The 488 Pista was designed with a focus on functional aerodynamics. The overall design of the 488 Pista is a true balance of power, elegance, and sportiness. Ferrari’s designers and engineers designed the 488 Pista to be as light as possible–the Pista weighs a full 90 kg less than the 488 GTB. Its lower weight has lead to huge improvements in speed, power, and output.
The Ferrari 488 Pista was given a cockpit that is pared back, making it sportier than previous special series models. Ferrari’s designers also added innovative elements like an S-Duct at the front of the vehicle and a dolphin-tail rear spoiler to improve aerodynamics and to give the 488 Pista an air of lightness and efficiency. These innovations resulted in an unprecedented 20% increase in downforce compared to previous series models.
The new model’s racing livery color scheme is an important element of its design. It highlights the S-Duct and the form of the 488 Pista. The colors add structure to the design of the vehicle with a contrasting colored edging on both the bumpers and flanks.
The 488 Pista also uses a Ferrari Dynamic Enhancer, which has never before been seen. It uses Ferrari software to adjust the brake pressure at the callipers and brings the 488 Pista to the top of its class.
The Ferrari 488 Pista comes equipped with a powerful V8 90° twin turbo engine. Its new engine is the most powerful V8 engine in Ferrari history and punches out an impressive 720 cv. It has the best specific output in its class at 185 cv/l and has a top speed of 340 km/h.
The 488 Pista’s engine’s sound is intense and unique due to the 50 cv power increase over the 488 GTB. It truly has the unmistakable Ferrari sound. The quality of the sound–and the overall intensity of the engine–are higher than even the 488 GTB and are a true sign of the Pista’s progressive increase in power.
